There are some sports Dharan is known for and one of them is Bodybuilding. In the development of body building in Nepal Dharan has played historic role. Perhaps, we may not be wrong to declare Dharan as The Olympia of Bodybuilding. This context prove that Dharan most have been very much advanced in Body Building in Nepal. The first formal Body Building Championship took place in 2027 B.S. in Dharan and the historic winner who deserved the crown was Mr. Ramesh Khanal. Now, since the first Mr. Dharan in 2027 B.S. till the 13th latest edition it has successfully flourished and thrived. The following are the editions of Mr. Dharan Body Building Championship since its origin.

There are some of the interesting facts in the context of Bodybuilding Championship in Dharan. The 2 nd Mr. Dharan Raj Bhagat Pradhanang and 12 th Mr. Dharan Kabir Bhagat Pradhanang are father and son. 10 th Mr. Dharan Harka Raj Limbu also bagged the 2 nd edition of Mr. Purbanchal and stood 2 nd in his Category of 55 k.g. in Mr. Himalayan National Bodybuilding Championship-2063. The 6 th Mr. Dahran Umesh Shrestha also bagged eastern regional level Mr. Hercules Bodybuilding Championship. The same way 7 th Mr. Dharan Jitahang Limbu also bagged Mr. Sunsari. The first Mr. Purbanchal took place in 2055 B.S., whereas, other championship like Mr. Jweder and Mr. Sagaramatha (Ram Bahadur Dahal) and Mr. Samrat (Satis Rai) were also held in past year. Even, national level Mr. Himalayan Bodybuilding Championship was also held successfully in 2051 B.S. and in 2063 B.S. Mr. Buddha Subba National Bodybuilding Championship was also held.

Besides these gymnasiums and health clubs there are countless personal gymnasiums all over Dharan.

Some of the health clubs and gymnasiums are commercially a big success like Dharan Physical Fitness, Unique Health Club, Sunsari Multi Gym and Vision Gym etc who are behind the making of bodybuilders. Since the evolution of bodybuilding in Dharan the bodybuilding's craze in Dharan is really blossoming among the youngsters. In this fashion freak city almost every youngster craves for muscular body. Besides, just to be muscular bodybuilding also has paved a way to lead life free of drug addition. Some of the wanna-be- bodybuilders take of bodybuilding to be a genuine athlete, some of them do it just to be fit and remaining majority youngsters are inspired by Hollywood stars like Arnold Schwagenegger or Ronny Collman. Any way, Dharan, definitely, has made its own room in the history of Bodybuilding in Nepal. It is undisputed that the history of Nepal's Bodybuilding will be incomplete without Dharan and Dharan's Bodybuilders who were the first Bodybuilders of Nepal and the pioneers who took great pain for this glamorous sports. Thanks to their novel effort that Bodybuilding sport is getting more and more popular not only in Dharan but also in whole country.
