Lazarus Soul is a upcoming name in the Rock music of Dharan. The band is formed five years back with a determination to take the rock music to the next level. After having around 8 major gigs in Dharan, the band recently has won the best band title in the shockwave Battle of the bands contest. Along with the best band title, the band also got for the best lyrics, best lead guitar, best bass guitar and best vocals.

What kind of band is Lazarus soul?
Lazarus soul is a Alternative rock band. But we like every kind of music like blues, jazz. And we listen to every kind of music like blues, jazz, sentimental, nepali folk songs too.
How did you get the name?
We are inspired by the myth of Lazarus. It's a biblical story. We were so much touched by the character of Lazarus. Lazarus had very much suffering. Had to suffer from the aristocrats and diseases. But in the afterlife he went to the heaven and others to the hell. And was sent by the god to spread the message of love and peace. And that is what we were inspired by and kept the name of the band Lazarus Soul.
How many major gigs have you done and what is the first major breakthough for you?
We have played around seven or eight major concerts. And many times in the schools and some progrommes. We did the opening for Robin n Looza concert and that was our first major breakthrough. Some other major gigs were doing the opening for the Axe band, playing in the Dharan utsav.
How do you see the Rock/metal fans in Dharan?
People in Dharan loves rock music. Dharan has many rock and metal fans. But in some cases they dresses like a real rocker and listen to Avril. And doing crazy things like throwing stones at concerts, that's not a true music lover and not good.
Have you recorded any albums?
We have already recorded an album. But due to some financial problems it is not released. We have to focus ourselves to the studies too since we are students. To complete the album we need time and money and we have to go to Kathmandu for that. So that's the reason and if we get sponsors our album is ready to release. But we have enough compositions to complete 2-3 albums.
Who is your inspiration and your favourite artists?
We like 1974 AD, Mantra. The are really good. We don't have such particular favourite songs. We like to listen every kind of music from BB king, Pink floyd, to Deep purple, megadeth, to even Karna Das.
What about your compositions?
We all do the compositions. It's teamwork. One writes the song, and another member corrects it. And we play our own compositions most of the time too.
What about the contest you won recently?
We are very happy for that. We had no long preparations too. We won the contest and we are happy about that. But the contest not only about the winning. Its about making an good image even if we loose. There should be such contests.
There were different types of bands. Smriti from Biratnagar was good. But we felt the lack advertisement. More bands would have come in case of the good advertisement.
